1920 Montgomery Grey Sox

Overview

The Negro Southern League of 1920 was formed in early March. During the months of April through September the Grey Sox played a variety of NSL and non-NSL teams. For the Montgomery Grey Sox the season started on Friday, April 30, 1920, against the Birmingham All-Stars (Black Barons), with a three game series in Montgomery, which the Grey Sox took, two games to one. The Grey Sox's season ended on Monday, Sept. 13, 1920, in a game, again with the Birmingham Stars (Black Barons). The Grey Sox won that game.

From my research, the Knoxville Giants played at least 113 games, against both NSL and independent teams. The Giants had an overall record of 79-31-3 (.718 winning percentage). They played 74 NSL games, with a 48-24-2 record (.667 winning percentage). The non-NSL games played numbered 39. The Giants had a 31-7-1 record (.816 winning percentage).

The number of games may not be fully complete, as some newspaper reports are vague and research is ongoing.
